The holidays are just around the corner, whether you can believe it or not! While your gatherings may look different this year, there’s more reason than ever to make your home merry and bright.

We may design kitchen and bathrooms, but we also love creating spaces that are warm and welcoming, any time of the year. Here are some of our design team’s favorite holiday decorating ideas.

Choose a Flocked Tree

Flocked trees are one of our favorite trends this year to bring the outdoors in.

“We always buy a fresh flocked tree from Bayer’s off Hampton. The white snow makes the lights and ornaments pop,” says Megan Bittle, President and CEO of RSI Kitchen & Bath.

Fresh trees not your thing? There are many realistic flocked artificial trees available today to give your home the same cozy and trendy look!

Designer Kelly Uhlig also loves the classic trend of a white Christmas tree with gold and silver ornaments.

Get Nostalgic

In a year full of challenging times, sometimes we need things that remind us of home. Another one of Kelly Uhlig’s favorite pieces of decor is “all my nieces’ homemade ornaments!” Throwback decorations like mini ceramic Christmas trees and Shiny Brite ornaments can give you a cozy and sentimental feeling this holiday season.

Light It Up

There’s nothing like that holiday glow! Designer Lindsey Dunajcvik loves holiday decor that incorporates ample lights. Don’t stop at the tree, either. Weave lights into a garland, place around the interior of your windows and wrap around banisters.

Bring the Cheer Outdoors

Staying outdoors, Arlene Allmeyer found inspiration from a friend’s outdoor space. “My friend has a new patio with an outdoor fireplace and put a Christmas tree with lights on her patio,” she says. It’s the perfect way to have a (socially distant) cocktail with friends while staying cozy and festive.

You can’t forget about the classic wreathes on a front door! It’s a simple way to have a great first impression of your home and our designer, Heidi Bartels, favorite piece of holiday decorating. You can also try the trend of a small wreath in each one of your front windows.

No matter how you celebrate — or decorate — we hope you have a safe and enjoyable holiday season. And if you’re ready to start 2021 with a more beautiful home, contact the kitchen and bath designers at RSI today.
