Westmorland Primary Bathroom Remodel

Central West End Primary Bath Restoration – Primary Bath

This primary bath remodel transformed the last untouched space in a beautifully restored 1908 Central West End home, completing decades of thoughtful updates by the homeowners. The goal was to return the bathroom to a style that honors the home’s original Gilded Age design, replacing a dated 1980s look with timeless details and improved functionality.

A nonfunctional whirlpool tub was removed to expand the shower, which now features a comfortable seat and elegant Vallelunga & Co. carrara honed porcelain tile. This change also allowed for the creation of a private toilet niche, improving both flow and privacy.

The design connects seamlessly with the adjoining traditional dressing room. The charcoal blue cabinetry and Jeffrey Court patterned tile floor pull their hues from the dressing room’s vintage wallpaper, creating continuity between the spaces. Custom elements include a pull-out hamper discreetly built into the linen cabinet, as well as medicine cabinets designed to mimic the proportions and trim detail of the window, adding balance and symmetry to the room.

Finishes were carefully selected to blend period character with modern luxury. The vanity showcases Koch Classic Ridgegate cabinetry in a rich charcoal blue, paired with Cambria Swanbridge quartz countertops. Fixtures in Delta’s Dorval collection (Champagne Bronze), paired with Atlas Bradbury hardware and Kichler sconces, bring warmth and refinement to the design.

The result is a sophisticated, historically sensitive remodel that completes the homeowners’ long restoration journey while delivering a highly functional and beautiful retreat.
