Contemporary Kitchen Designed for Everyday Living
After living in their previous home for many years and completing several remodeling projects, the homeowners were ready for a fresh start that would allow them to design without compromise. Building a custom home with Kemp Homes in Town & Country gave them the opportunity to create a kitchen tailored specifically to their lifestyle, aesthetic, and long-term needs as a family with two college-age children.
The vision for the space centered around high-end minimalism; contemporary, sophisticated, and highly functional without feeling cold. Every detail was thoughtfully considered to maintain a clean, uncluttered appearance while ensuring there was a dedicated place for everything. Kitchen designer Steve Donovan focused heavily on both symmetry and practicality, resulting in a space that feels effortlessly refined.
One of the standout design decisions was the incorporation of two dishwashers. Beyond the visual balance they provide, the dual Cove dishwashers help keep dirty dishes off the countertops and simplify cleanup during everyday use and entertaining. Electrical outlets were strategically integrated into the front of the island for convenient access while remaining hidden from the adjoining living space to preserve the kitchen’s streamlined appearance.
Additional storage was discreetly built into the back side of the island behind the barstools, creating space for lesser-used items without interrupting the minimalist design. Touch-latch cabinetry eliminates the need for visible hardware, reinforcing the kitchen’s sleek contemporary aesthetic.
Full-height Omega cabinetry with the Desoto door style in Pearl paint extends all the way to the ceiling, avoiding the use of transom cabinets for a cleaner, more architectural look while also improving accessibility and storage capacity. Specialized organizational features including pull-out spice storage, integrated knife blocks, and utensil dividers demonstrate the extensive planning that went into how the kitchen would function on a daily basis.
To the left of the refrigerator, a dedicated coffee bar creates a secondary serving area and houses a television positioned intentionally to remain visible from the island without becoming a dominant focal point within the space.
A suite of integrated stainless steel appliances from Wolf and Sub-Zero contributes to the kitchen’s seamless appearance while introducing just enough contrast to break up the expansive white palette. The result is a kitchen that feels calm, highly organized, timelessly modern and designed to support both everyday family life and sophisticated entertaining.
